Air conditioning installation in Liverpool

We pass your request to F-Gas certified air conditioning installers who cover Liverpool.

Sea breezes keep Liverpool cooler than inland cities on most summer days, but heatwaves still reach it. In July 2022 the North West set a new regional record of 38.4°C, and top-floor flats with big windows facing the river can get uncomfortable long before that.

Most AC enquiries in Liverpool come from flats and home offices rather than whole houses.

Apartments on the waterfront and in the centre

In a block of flats you'll need the freeholder's or managing agent's written consent before an outdoor unit goes on a balcony or wall. Many leases ban it, so check before paying for a survey.

If you rent, the landlord must agree in writing.

Heritage streets

In conservation areas and on listed buildings, an outdoor unit on the front elevation is likely to be refused. Installers can often place the condenser in a rear yard or on a flat roof instead.

What to ask an installer

Check the engineer holds F-Gas certification. Ask about the unit's noise level in decibels, where the condensate will drain, and whether the system can also heat the room in winter.

An air-to-air system replacing fossil fuel heating may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant when fitted by an MCS certified installer.

Cheaper ways to stay cool first

Blinds or shutters on the outside of the glass stop far more heat than curtains inside. Opening windows on opposite sides of a flat at night flushes out the day's heat. If those still leave a bedroom too hot to sleep in, a single split unit is the targeted fix rather than cooling the whole home.

Liverpool homes and what they need

Victorian and Edwardian red-brick terraces

Terraces stay cooler thanks to solid walls. A single unit in the loft bedroom is often enough.

Interwar and post-war semis

Conservatories and south-facing extensions overheat first. A wall unit there can make the room usable all year.

City-centre apartments and converted houses

Converted Georgian houses often sit in conservation areas. Expect stricter rules on where the outdoor unit can go.

Areas covered

Engineers who cover Liverpool work across areas including Anfield, Walton, Wavertree, Allerton, Childwall, West Derby, Aigburth, Woolton, Garston and Toxteth.

Questions people in Liverpool ask

Can air conditioning be fitted in a day?

A single split system usually can. Multi-room systems take longer.

Is portable AC a good alternative?

It needs no consent, but it's louder and less efficient than a split system.

Does air conditioning need servicing?

Yes. An annual check of filters, refrigerant pressures and the condensate drain keeps it efficient. Clean the indoor filters yourself every few weeks in summer.
