Boiler repair in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
Describe the fault and we pass it to Gas Safe registered engineers who work across the BCP area.
Nearly four in five BCP homes heat with mains gas alone, so a broken boiler usually means a cold house and no hot water. Repairs to the gas side must be done by an engineer on the Gas Safe Register.
Some of the most common winter faults here are things you can check yourself first.

Frosty nights and condensate pipes
Inland parts of the conurbation get more frost than the seafront suggests. The Met Office station at Hurn, by Bournemouth Airport, averaged around 56 nights of air frost a year between 1991 and 2020.
On those mornings, a condensing boiler that shows a fault code and gurgles has often got a frozen condensate pipe. If the pipe runs outside and you can reach it safely, pour warm (not boiling) water along it, then reset the boiler. Lagging the pipe stops it happening again.
If you smell gas
Ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away. Open windows, don't touch electrical switches and leave if the smell is strong.
Pressure and resets
Most sealed systems sit at 1 to 1.5 bar when cold. If it's lower, top up using the filling loop as shown in our boiler pressure guide. If you have to top up every few days, there's a leak for the engineer to find.
Reset the boiler once. If it locks out again with the same code, book the repair.
Repair or replace
Ask for both prices if the boiler is over ten years old or the part is expensive. Set both figures against the national ranges in our new boiler cost guide before deciding.
Bournemouth homes and what they need
Interwar and post-war semis and detached houses
Regular boilers fed from loft tanks can lose heating if the feed and expansion tank freezes. Insulate the loft tank and pipes.
Flats in converted villas and purpose-built blocks
In flats, the condensate pipe may run inside to a waste pipe, so freezing is less common. Long flues need full inspection after any repair.
Bungalows across the suburbs and Christchurch
Bungalow condensate pipes often run a short way outside to a drain. They freeze quickly on exposed sides.
Areas covered
Engineers who cover Bournemouth work across areas including Boscombe, Southbourne, Westbourne, Winton, Charminster, Kinson, Moordown, Pokesdown, Christchurch and Poole.
